Glow With the Flow

Details

The clients brief was to create a sleek, unfussy space that was light and airy. Given that the kitchen serves as the focal point for entertaining, it was important for it to maintain a clean and uncluttered aesthetic that harmonizes with the overall style of the home. Whilst the brief was to keep the colours light, we didn’t want ‘just another white kitchen’.

Lighting played a crucial role in our design. Introducing an offset panel at the front of the island allowed for the incorporation of LED ribbon on all four sides, providing a subtle glow that accentuates the breakfast bar area. In addition, we created two levels of light on the back wall, spot lights and LED ribbon to create depth in this area.

The configuration of the back wall, bulkhead, and wing wall revolved around accommodating the client’s freestanding oven, presenting its own set of challenges. Achieving true and level walls was crucial to implement the back wall paneling seamlessly, without resorting to any scribing techniques.

The construction of the framing was considered very carefully to create this look. Practical heights of the units were very important whist keeping the right proportions to the overall design. To preserve the sleek lines of the back wall, we strategically designed the pantry around the fridge, avoiding any interruptions to the clean, streamlined look.
