Urban Elegance Kitchen

This top entertainer and chef, downsizing from a grand villa to an inner-city apartment, sought a sophisticated and stylish kitchen that also served as a dining space. Our main goal was to create more room, achieved by eliminating the walk-in scullery walls from the original plans, giving us a spacious 6.5-meter back wall. We organized the kitchen into three distinct areas: a back wall for the sink and primary appliances, a side wall for pantry storage, and an island for preparation and buffet. Additionally, we added a lowered solid timber table that comfortably accommodates four people for intimate dinner parties.

The overall design drew inspiration from European aesthetics, featuring dark and moody tones and a mix of textures. Powder-coated aluminum doors with black-tinted glass covered the pantry storage wall, softly backlit with lighting. A durable Dekton benchtop was chosen to complement the cabinetry’s matte finish and enhance the kitchen’s overall moody ambiance.

Our primary challenge was the limited initial space on the plan due to a large walk-in pantry, which we resolved by removing it. We also invested considerable effort in achieving a harmonious mix of dark colors and tones, ultimately opting for a black base with copper accents and a variety of glass and matte textures. The client’s impeccable taste in furniture and accessories has transformed the apartment into an exceptional space for entertaining, cooking, or simply relaxing. This project perfectly realized the design brief through a collaborative approach and the pleasure of working with great clients.
